Make-A-Thon

There is a global movement of concerned citizens who are working to find the best way to prepare youth for the real world. In fact 75% of key experts worldwide are not satisfied with our current educational systems (wise-qatar.org). The 1st European Make-a-thon (Barcelona and Newcastle) will bring together teens, educators, and makers to realize new solutions to fill this gap.

We will offer teens this fun and constructive experience to learn real-life skills that empower them to become independent adults, find their dream career and tackle the problems of their future. Hands-on learning and design thinking will be used to fuel the imagination of our participants and develop connections to real world problems. Educators and makers will get a chance to collaborate alongside teens to learn about project-based learning and innovate new learning methods.

Over 6 teams will take on the Make-a-thon challenge: design a hands-on activity that will prepare teens for the future. During the first day we will offer a fun activities and mentorship that will help form solid teams ready to make amazing activities. Each team will create a YouTube pitch, which will also be used to attract teens for the try-out faire on the second day. During the try-out faire teens will be able to participate and evaluate each activity. One lucky team will be chosen to have their activity implemented in a learning site.
