Elana Levin Schtulberg is a young physics graduate from the UK currently interning at MOB who has future hopes of getting into art and design and is currently in the process of applying to UDK Design University in Berlin to study Visual Communication. During her internship at MOB she has had the amazing chance to use the excellent resources of FabCafe to create pieces for her portfolio. She has a passion for making and creating and is inspired by the creative atmosphere at MOB.

One of her projects, a photo project titled ‘Identity Crisis’ can be seen here http://elanalevinschtulberg.tumblr.com/ . In this ‘real world photoshop’ project she combines two portraits in one image to explore the concept of identity and our perception thereof; how fragile and flexible they are. She plays with the way in which the combination two familiar things can create something scary and alien.

Her comments on the experience of doing this project:

“I had a lot of fun doing this project, when I first had the idea, I didn’t think it would work so well and I was really excited to see how it turned out. One of the best parts was working together with the MOBers and seeing everyone’s reactions to the photos, it became a really fun activity and many people were excited to get involved (although some needed a bit of persuading) but in the end everyone was really happy when they saw their creepy frankensteined selves, even despite my annoying nagging during the photo-taking process…  ‘ok… hold it a little bit to the right…. Little bit more….  Little bit more… Too much!… now to the left… up… down… a little bit up… angle it straight!!’.

But I’m really happy with how it turned out, so a big thank you to all the MOBers who donated their faces and heads to my portfolio!”

You can see the whole project here.
