FAB Workshop

FabCafe Hong Kong is a creative community platform. We want to connect people from various different fields of expertise to collaborate on meaningful projects together. FabCafe provides a space and digital fabrication tools that encourage exploration of innovative and exciting ideas for businesses and individual creators.

We are organizing a series of workshops at FabCafe Hong Kong. There will be workshops to do laser cutting, 3D-printing, coffee making, or to host other lifestyle related workshops.

Mahjong has a long history in Asia and there are more foreigners learning this interesting game as social networking. This newly designed mahjong coloring workshop will guide you to experience the traditional hand-carved tiles, newly illustrated and engraved patterns while enjoying the fun of drilling! Have a good sense of art with your favorite painting choices. It is great fun to learn traditional craftsmanship in Hong Kong with something cool in the warm summer!

Contents:

• Understand the differences between modern laser-engraved and traditional hand-carved mahjong tiles.
• Live demonstration by one of only few remaining mahjong craftsmen with over 40 years experience.
• Decorate tiles by filling in and rubbing off colors.
• Learn the usage of a laser-engraving machine.
• Make your own gift set with 2 hand-carved mahjong tiles in traditional patterns and 4 new lovely patterns laser-engraved by FabCafe.
• A beautiful floral greeting card and packaging box will be included.
