Secure Your Spot Today and let the art of perfumery enchant you in our exclusive Perfume Making Workshop.
Fri, August 11, 2023 – Fri, August 11, 2023 UTC+08:00
17:00 – 19:00
This will be our second Olfactory Design Lab! – a collaboration between FabCafe KL and Scent Artist Maki Ueda, with the general goal to research and consider the sense of smell as a medium for communication. You can view what went down in our previous Olfactory Design Lab workshop here!
Up until recently, design research, including user experience, has always been heavily focused on the sense of vision. However, as digital trends continue to grow in increasingly creative ways, other bodily senses, such as smell and touch, have become key interest areas for those keen to engage with users in a more material and embodied sense.
Maki Ueda now holds over a decade of teaching and exhibiting experience based on the topic of smell and art. Since 2009, she has held a teaching position at the Royal University of the Netherlands, conducting the world’s first and only “olfactory art” course. In this workshop, we will be breaking down the scent of a rose and then re-constructing your own rose scent!
Experience the joy of blending scents as you create a harmonious symphony of aromas. Our instructor, Maki Ueda will share her expertise, guiding you in the art of layering fragrances to achieve a captivating and long-lasting result.
Workshop Rundown:
5:00 – 5:30pm : Lecture and presentation (smell design introduction, lastest trends in oftactory and Maki Ueda’s works)
5:30 – 6.30pm : Group work – synthesizing the scent of a rose and making your own original rose scent
6.30 – 7:00pm : Sniffing session – smelling and discovering other rose scents created by other participants
7:00 – 7:30pm : Q&A session
At the end of the workshop, take home your very own rose perfume in a small bottle. The concentration of this perfume will be equivalent to that of the Eau de Toilette.
