How Might We Foster a Mindset for Sustainability?
More than about making profit, sustainable business is about seeing possibilities and taking action to create impact. A sustainable business is a business that can sustain itself in the long-run. To do so it needs to have a strong purpose that will inspire stakeholders to provide their everlasting support. A company without a sense of purpose beyond profit, will fail to live up to its competitors in long-term value creation and innovations that consider the ecological, social and economic environment.
Companies that aim to develop more sustainable strategies must be willing to adjust their mindset and learn from the Design Thinking framework. In this online talk session Harvey Chung, co-founder of FabCafe Hong Kong & Loftwork Hong Kong, will share experiences of organizing online and offline Design Thinking Workshops for the creative community and for business. In particular, he will describe the relation between Design Thinking and sustainable business goals, and present examples from Global Goals Jam 2020 in Tokyo and Hong Kong.
If you join the session, you will also experience yourself how a design thinking workshop can be facilitated online. You will be guided through a few short exercises. After the session, you will better understand the value of Design Thinking, in terms of empathy, open-mindedness, and alignment of individual values with business goals.
Why should you attend the talk session?
- You will understand the importance of long-term value creation.
- You will learn how Design Thinking can support sustainable business goals.
