FAB Meetup vol.02 “Ageing population in Hong Kong”

  • #Finished

How might we enhance the quality of life for elderly? What kind of services can we create for them? In response to the increasing challenges on ageing population, our second Fabcafe Hong Kong Meetup has invited 2 speakers to discuss how they bring higher quality of life to the elderly by designing new products and introducing "active ageing" in their businesses.

FAB Meetup

FabCafe Hong Kong is a creative community platform. We want to connect people from various different fields of expertise to collaborate on meaningful projects together. FabCafe provides a space and digital fabrication tools that encourage exploration of innovative and exciting ideas for businesses and individual creators.

We are creating a new series of meetups to spark discussion on important local and global challenges. We also highlight projects by the community that have identified potential solutions and are grasping the opportunity to achieve real impact.

THEME “Ageing population in Hong Kong”

According to the Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department, the number of elderly people in Hong Kong with the aged 65 or older will reach 2.58 million by 2064, which will be around 36 percent of the total population. With the rapid increase of ageing population, there are great demands for social security, healthcare and elderly services. There is a stronger need to enhance the quality of life for the elderly.

For our second FAB Meetup at FabCafe Hong Kong, we would like to discuss the challenge of the ageing population in Hong Kong and look for possible solutions. We are delighted to have Emily Tang from Studio Doozy, a startup design company who design special toilets for elderly and disabilities; and Zip Cheung from OHH Dear communications, the first senior model and marketing agency in Hong Kong, to present their business stories and challenges. FabCafe will share a research project about “ageing and aged society” we conducted in Japan and China.

Studio Doozy

Studio Doozy believes that happy, healthy ageing at home is possible. Studio Doozy is a product development company that specialises in designing all-inclusive healthcare and lifestyle solutions for better living. They aim to enable everyone to live an independent and high-quality life. Doozy’s first focus is the bathroom space as this is one of the main falling hotspots for elderlies and people with limited mobility.

OHH Dear Communications

OHH Dear Communications is a “silver-hair” (senior) model and marketing agency founded in 2016. It aims to cultivate a positive image and attitude for active ageing, to develop innovative ideas with social and market value, as well as to promote intergenerational communication and foster social harmony in Hong Kong.
