Olfactory Design Lab is a collaboration between FabCafe KL and Scent Artist Maki Ueda, with the general goal to research and consider the sense of smell as a medium for communication.
For this workshop, we will be extracting scent from items or materials that is nostalgic to you
– a scent of nostalgia.

The theme to be covered in the first part of the workshop is fetishism. Each person has his/her own fetishistic smell, which is not generally appreciated like roses or jasmine. In this workshop, participants are asked to bring their own “things” that are the source of their fetish for smells, and we will use the tincture method, a primitive extraction method that has been used by humans since ancient times, to make perfumes from the smells. We will broaden your perspective and understanding of the sense of smell through the fetishism of smell.

a nostalgic scent

A scent close to your heart, one that you never want to get rid off. Such as; shirt, pillow, blanket, etc

That sweet bubble ballon scent from your childhood memories
