In the latest of BioClub’s visiting artist talks, Shih Wei-Chieh and Marc Dusseiller will each speak about their recent artworks exploring solar energy.

In Shih’s talk, he will provide an overview of his DIY protocol for developing dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) at home via artist perspective, sharing his experiences in manufacturing under non-controlled environments. His exhibition 1,540,000nm of DSSC is currently on exhibit in FabCafe Tokyo 1F, incorporating natural dyeing techniques and innovative audiovisual applications using DSSC-based crafts.

In Marc’s talk, he will introduce his project building a rapid prototype of I-V curve tester and his recent solar-powered synthesizer crafting workshop “DIY Conversation with the Sun” in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Through these projects, he will share his vision for organizing workshops and fostering a science-art network between Europe and Asia, as well as a brief introduction for the residency with Shih Wei-Chieh in Finland’s Kulturhus Björkboda this June.
