Taste of Hong Kong – Snowy Mooncake
Snowy mooncakes are a non-baked version of mooncake originating from Hong Kong. Unlike the traditional mooncake, it is usually served cold and the wrapper is chewy. Interestingly, it is believed that mooncakes were used for spreading secret messages by the Ming revolutionaries.
In this workshop, you will learn the way of making this modernized traditional food. You can try to make your own wrapper, then we will demonstrate the way of making custard filling. After that, you will assemble the ingredients and use our Hong Kong-themed molds to finish your snowy mooncakes. You can also customize the mooncakes with your own message.
In this workshop, we will also talk a little bit about Hong Kong and Mid-Autumn Festival traditions. The languages will be Cantonese and Japanese.
Snowy mooncakes are usually served cold, but they are ready to eat at room temperature as well. You are welcomed to enjoy your mooncakes with a cup of coffee in FabCafe at the end of the workshop.
