On 29th June 2019, the World Industrial Design Day MiniJam, co-hosted by WDO and the team at Global Goals Jam, came together to explore local challenges under the theme of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.
In Tokyo, Team Oni-san focused on challenges around food waste in Japan and introduced a idea for a movement to change the mindset, attitude and behaviour of customers who feel negatively about foods that are not “beautiful” or “perfect”.
The GGJ Community Potluck is an evening where people can come together and share food with each other, while talking about the concerns and solutions around food waste in Japan. As a potluck event, everyone should bring a dish to share amongst the guests. At the potluck, we hope to explore personal experiences with food waste and connect with others interested in this issue.
