Event Summary
Mikafi, a coffee roasting platform from Switzerland, is coming to Kyoto for the first time, and for one week FabCafe Kyoto will be hosting a variety of programs including a roasting experience, coffee tasting, and social events, along with a display and installation of Mikafi’s roasting machines. Why don’t you join Mikafi and think about the ethical coffee distribution system and the design of new coffee experiences connected online?
What is Mikafi ?
This roasting platform democratizes the cycle of coffee roasting by connecting farmers, local businesses and nature by technology. This digital service ecosystem contains a fully automated IoT roasting machine, a coffee management platform as well as a physical and digital coffee experience for consumers.
Enjoying a cup of coffee involves many events. A farmer collecting green beans on the opposite part of the world, packaging them in jute bags. Sequentially, these beans are delivered to many continents, to be roasted and again packed in factories. Eventually, we buy this small package of coffee, which has traveled many hours, gone through many boundaries to be enjoyed by us.
Mikafi enables coffee selling businesses to buy green beans from farms, roast on spot fresh coffee and learn from their community. This is how we connect the coffee ecosystem in a digital service, increase their profitability, enable personalization and guarantee sustainability from farm to cup.

Message from the CEO of Mikafi
Mikafi is on a mission to revolutionize the coffee industry by delivering the ultimate coffee experience to consumers worldwide. Our vision is to personalize coffee to meet the unique preferences of each individual consumer.
In our quest to achieve this goal, we embarked on a journey to find a roasting solution that could create small-batch roasts, personalized outcomes at scale in both retail and local shops, all while keeping the experience affordable. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to find such a solution.
Instead of giving up, we decided to take a bold step and rethink coffee roasting altogether. We created a cutting-edge digital IoT platform that can customize roasting to each individual’s needs, while simultaneously providing a seamless and easy-to-use experience for shop owners and individuals alike.
To ensure that our coffee experience is world-class, we developed an AI model that predicts the right green coffee with the ideal roasting profile to create a truly customized coffee experience. We have curated a library of green coffee partners, guaranteeing direct trade, sustainability, and quality in every cup.
But our commitment to excellence didn’t stop there. To ensure that we deliver the ultimate customized coffee experience, we designed a new, digitally-enabled roasting technology in partnership with a leading industry player that manufactures the system and provides worldwide maintenance and support for it. We own all the intellectual property rights to this cutting-edge hardware (made in Switzerland).
Initial installations have demonstrated that our approach delivers higher customer satisfaction, revenues, and profitability. Unlike traditional roasting companies that sell coffee, we have a different approach. We monetize the machine and charge for the process of roasting. Our customers can purchase green beans directly from the farm and pay a subscription fee for our IoT roasting solution. This innovative approach not only ensures that our customers receive the freshest and most customized coffee experience, but it also allows us to deliver unparalleled value and affordability to coffee lovers worldwide.
By providing a personalized and affordable coffee experience, we are confident that we can disrupt the coffee industry and pave the way for a new era of customized food tech.
