久世直輝 写真展「オトポルトレ」

カメラを携えて街を歩くとき、
街は人の手によって設計され、構築された集合体であることに気づかされる。

均整の取れた街並みは、
風雨にさらされ、削られ、太陽に灼かれ、経年変化する。
あるいは人の営みによって、意図せず(時には意図して)かたちを変えていく。

本来は整然と並ぶはずのオブジェクトが、ひとつだけ歪んでいたり、
歪んだもの同士が、奇妙な調和を保ちながら並んでいたりする。

街が歪んでいるのか、
それとも、自分自身の心の歪みがそのように街を見せているのか。

強く視線を引き寄せる歪みは、
孤独な行為としてカメラを構える自分自身が、
実は無数の関係性の中に存在し、互いに影響し合いながら存在していることを教えてくれる。

本展では、ライフワークとして続けてきたストリートフォトグラフィーの中から、
「歪み」に焦点を当てた作品を展示する。

そこには、視覚的に明確な歪みもあれば、
感情や記憶に触れるような、曖昧な歪みも含まれている。

写真に収めた歪みは自らを映す鏡であり、
たどってきた痕跡であり、
セルフポートレートのようなものなのだろう。

そして歪みはまたかたちを変えていく。
写真に映る歪みはすでに失われた現在の自分自身と街の記録である。

When I walk through the city with a camera in hand,
I am reminded that the city is a collective entity—designed and constructed by human hands.

Its orderly streets are exposed to wind and rain, worn away, scorched by the sun, and altered by the passage of time. They also change shape through human activity—unintentionally, and at times deliberately.

Objects that should originally align in perfect order may appear slightly distorted,
or distorted forms may stand side by side, maintaining a strange and fragile harmony.

Is it the city itself that is distorted,
or is it the distortion within my own mind that causes the city to appear this way?

The distortions that strongly draw my gaze reveal that,
although I raise the camera as a solitary act,
I exist within countless relationships, influencing and being influenced by others.

This exhibition presents works from my ongoing life’s work in street photography,
focusing specifically on the theme of “distortion.”

Some images contain visually explicit distortions,
while others hold more ambiguous distortions that touch upon emotion and memory.

The distortions captured in these photographs are mirrors reflecting myself—
traces of the paths I have taken,
something akin to self-portraits.

And distortions continue to change their form.
The distortions seen in these photographs are records of a present already lost—
of both myself and the city at that moment.
