  • In the Loop is a circularity-driven popup community hosted FabCafe in partnership with Ekolokal.

In the Loop is a place for creatives, startups, and companies from around the world to try out new things and make connections around a shared consciousness and passion for circular design and sustainability-driven ideas, products and services.

Through the In the Loop community, we aim to increase meaningful collaboration, experiment boldly with new materials, methods, and ideas, and engage deeply with local and global sustainability-inspired creatives, startups, and companies.

  • “In the Loop” has two meanings:

First, “loop” is a reference to circular economy which aims to replace the linear create-use-throw away lifecycle in favor of a circular system where materials are reused, products are upcycled and waste is designed out.

Second, “In the Loop” can also mean “to be in the know”.

Together as a community, members aspire towards gaining a high level of consciousness and shared knowledge around circular design and sustainability. This feeling of inclusion and shared consciousness aims to encourage a deeper and meaningful connection among community members.

  • Composting is a process that turns kitchen’s food waste into valuable fertilizer for fields and gardens.

Reducing food waste from households is not only a solution to a small waste problem, but can also contribute to a larger goal such as reducing the size of waste disposal facilities. Why don’t we use fertilizer produced locally to reduce urban waste and increase greenery surrounding us? Join us and build your own compost box while learning about proper composting techniques and where in Tokyo you can take your compost if you don’t have a garden yourself.

  • bread

bread is a beer brewed from leftover bread, which the zero waste NPO, 530 was involved in the planning of the product. The beer is brewed with an original recipe by AJB – Anglo Japanese Brewing Company in Nozawa Onsen Village, Nagano, a village with a rich natural environment and good water.

Tackling the obvious problem of reducing food waste is not the only reason for creating this beer. Using someone else’s surplus means that we need to be transparent about how and what we use to make our beer, so that the next person who uses it will know exactly how it was made. This cycle of honest and caring manufacturing is the catalyst for problem solving and deliciousness.

ASAKARA is also in the middle of a crowdfunding campaign, check it out!

  • Did you know, second to oil, the clothing and textile industry is the largest polluter in the world?

One way that we, as consumers, can make a difference is by extending the life of our clothes and giving already existing cloths a new home. Through swapping events, we can reduce our impact on the environment and save money.

If you have any unwanted clothing, accessories or small household items, join us at FabCafe MTRL (2F) for an afternoon of swapping and networking with local people who are passionate about sustainability.

  • Well-designed new sustainable goods market by CACTUS , KiNaKo, and SUSTAINABLE lifestyle.

Finding the best products for a zero waste lifestyle can be overwhelming. What are the best products that can reduce or eliminate single-use plastic products in my day to day life? Does this product use toxic ingredients or materials? Do the source materials of these products contribute to a circular economy?

Just in time for the holiday season, come check out the newest in vegan leather goods with soft and luxurious cactus leather wallets, designer jewelry made with upcycled architectural waste and zero-waste goods for your sustainable lifestyle.

  • CACTUS

We want to create a brand that embodies the “beautiful coexistence” of people and nature. With this in mind, the leather brand CACTUS was established. The representative of the company, who loves nature, decided to tackle environmental issues after seeing nature being polluted by human hands. At that time, he came across a leather material made from cactus and decided to establish the company. The cactus grows naturally in Mexico and can be cultivated with only a few water resources. The leather is characterized by its ability to repel water while providing a luxurious look and feel.

  • KiNaKo

It may also be a chance to become interested in the building and your place. We hope that by wearing the scraps and pieces of wood from old architecture, you will be able to experience architecture first hand.

  • SUSTAINABLE lifestyle
