The inaugural StoryLines Artist Market is proud to feature the works of Elora, Marina, Natasha-Elle, and Léa – four artists hailing from various corners of the world, from Spain and France to Singapore.

These exceptional creators share a deep appreciation for both traditional and modern Japanese culture, and their pieces showcase a remarkable attention to detail and a masterful use of captivating color palettes. Although they draw inspiration from common themes, each of them imbues their work with their unique graphic style and perspective, offering a fresh way of seeing and experiencing the world.

Elora, also known as Owakita, draws inspiration from various sources, including Ghibli films, ukiyo-e, impressionism, and color therapy. Her art is characterized by a soothing color palette and an experimental approach that creates a dreamlike world. Her pieces evoking nostalgia and serenity allow people to escape from reality and find inner peace.

    Elora grew up in the French Alps, a place that shaped her interest in her surroundings as well as her love for art and colours.

    Elora’s experimental approach to illustration has earned her a growing online following and has led to exciting projects such as creating the Lofi Theme and stickers for Facebook Messenger and Instagram, as well as a capsule collection with Uniqlo Paris. She currently combines her passion for art and traveling to work remotely as an illustrator and environment artist for video games.

Marina, or breathingtokyo, draws inspiration from retro culture and features themes like webcore, pixel art, and 90’s anime. Her latest collection, Midnight Heartbreak, is a shiny set of stickers and prints that pay homage to the highs and lows of love, while the Pantone Pixel Japan Collection is inspired by the system that designers use to classify colors. Marina’s work is sure to make you fall in love with the beautiful, color-rich scenery of Japan.

    Marina González is a UI designer and illustrator based in Tokyo, originally from Málaga, Spain. Her work draws inspiration from the captivating art style of 90’s anime, webcore, and nostalgic Japanese culture. She frequently employs pastel colors and pixel art in her pieces.

    Marina moved to the UK in 2012, where she began working as a graphic designer. In 2018, she finally moved to her dream city, Tokyo. In addition to her design work, Marina is also passionate about photography and enjoys capturing the daily life of Japan and its pastel sunsets.

SADSHRIMPS, the Singaporean art and lifestyle brand founded by Natasha-Elle, is all about being bold, fun, and super cute. Natasha-Elle’s time in Tokyo has inspired some of her illustrations and lifestyle products, with which she hopes to bring joy into your days. She loves shrimps, and you might too after seeing her designs!

  • Natasha-Elle

    Natasha-Elle is an accomplished illustrator, maker, and creative content producer based in Singapore. In the past she worked as a Creative Content Producer at Tokyo Creative, where she was responsible for planning, filming, editing, and occasionally hosting a diverse range of video content for the brand’s YouTube channel and client work. Driven by her passion for creativity, Natasha has now established her own brand, SADSHRIMPS, which focuses on selling her illustrations, handmade jewelry, and designed apparel.

Léa creates dreamy illustrations that reflect her love for stationery, cinema, and music, particularly the synthwave/vaporwave genre. Inspired by the beauty of everyday objects and surrounded by art that fuels her creativity, Léa’s magic illustrations are centered around space, alien women, and harmonious co-existence between all creatures.

    Léa is a freelance illustrator and graphic designer based in France. She launched her online shop in 2017 after getting back from Canada, where she lived for 6 months. The talented artists she discovered there made her want to start her own business! In addition, Léa went back to school and worked for different companies with the goal of developing her shop to be more prepared after her studies!

What is StoryLines?

StoryLines is a community where people of all kinds come together to create, learn, and inspire each other through the universal language of drawing. It is a place to share stories of insight, imagination and awe, and expand creative potential through regular practice.

StoryLines offers a wide variety of opportunities for artists and hobbyists through practical workshops, monthly drawing meetups and, starting with this edition, seasonal artist markets.
