FabCafe Kuala Lumpur is inviting visual artists, illustrators, and dreamers from around the world to take part in MIXTAPE, a collective art print exhibition that gives the humble cassette cover a fresh life.
This first edition takes the mixtape cassette cover as its visual format, reviving the DIY spirit of the past and reinterpreting it for today’s digital landscape. Every artwork submitted will be printed as a one-of-a-kind art print, housed in an acrylic cassette box, and displayed across the gallery walls. The result will be a growing wall of cassette covers, each one a window into a different artist’s imagination.
The open call runs through July 15, 2026, and the exhibition will be on view at FabCafe KL Gallery from July 25 to September 30, 2026. Artists of all ages are welcome, anywhere in the world, working in traditional, digital, photographic, or mixed media (no AI-generated work). Each artist may submit up to two pieces, created using the official MIXTAPE template.

FabCafe KL sits at the heart of a vibrant, creative college town, home to five universities along with scores of makers, designers, and entrepreneurs. Designed as a hub for the local community’s creators and innovators, the space is dynamic and experimental, blending cutting-edge technology, artistic inspiration, and a retail zone that showcases local artists.
MIXTAPE is part of FabCafe KL’s DO IT SMALL Project, its first Art & Community program. Built around small-format works, the project celebrates the idea that small limits never limit imagination, offering accessible, affordable art for new collectors and seasoned enthusiasts alike.
